Taylor Pettit, DDS

Dr. Pettit is a really cool dentist, I’m super grateful to live close and that I found him. I am always uncomfortable with going to the dentist but with him, he puts me at ease. Everything just felt right. Would recommend.

Dr. Pettit is an Idaho native, born in Idaho Falls and educated at Utah State University. Dr. Pettit served a full-time mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Gilbert, Arizona, from 2013 to 2015. He received his DDS from the University of Texas School of Dentistry at Houston. He is married to Sophie Pettit, a Dental Hygienist. Dr. Pettit loves living in Cache Valley, where his grandmother’s line has lived for generations. They are living in and restoring his grandmother’s childhood home in Banida, Idaho. Sophie was born and raised in Tooele, Utah. Sophie’s first hygiene job was in Providence, where they met on the first day she was in town for a working interview. Their dating consisted of various outdoor adventures in the canyons and mountains. Cache Valley holds a special place in their hearts. He and Sophie love to learn new things. He studied auto mechanics, auto body, and welding in high school and loves to fix things. He also enjoys woodworking and loves to design and build custom projects. Sophie is often praised for her exceptional baking and cooking and has provided many treats to co-workers. She especially loves learning ethnically diverse recipes and making and decorating cakes for special occasions. Sophie also has a talent for finding good music. In their free time, they enjoy anything outdoors, especially mountain biking, hiking, camping, canoeing, and free diving. Sophie plays the cello and piano, and Dr. Pettit plays the tuba, Great Highland bagpipe, guitar, and piano. They love to compose and perform music together. They both love to read, and between the two of them, they have read about 80 books in the last year. They have adventurous spirits and love to expand their knowledge and capabilities in all areas.

Dr. Jason Hansen - Endodontist

Dr. Hansen made my procedure painless and stress-free. His skill and care truly stand out. Highly recommend!

Dr. Jason Hansen joined Platinum Dental Services in 2025, after spending 7 years practicing in West Texas and nearly 4 years with a different practice in Utah. Having done many thousands of root canal treatments, he brings extensive experience to the team. His passion for learning and excellence translates into painless treatments with top-notch quality. It is very important to him to provide the best possible endodontic care. Outside of dentistry, Dr. Hansen loves spending time with his wife and 6 children. He enjoys attending sporting events and live shows/concerts, doing escape rooms, actively participating in church, and performing with a local community playhouse. He is fluent in Spanish.

Dr. Normund Auzins - Oral Maxillofacial Surgeon

My experience with Dr. Auzins was incredible! He was nice, informative, and made me feel at ease with my procedure. He ROCKS!

Dr. Auzins graduated from Indiana University Dental School in 1996 and completed his Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery Residency in 2000. He became Board Certified in 2002, and renewed his certificate in 2012. He served the United States Navy until 2003 with two tours to the Middle East. He was stationed on the aircraft carrier, USS Theodore Roosevelt and had a faculty position at Portsmouth Naval Hospital. He has been in private practice since 2003 and teaches at OHSU part–time. He is now currently a faculty member at the University of Utah School of Dentistry. At the state level, he currently sits on the Multnomah Dental Society, and the Oregon Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. He is also a member of the anesthesia committee of the Oregon Board of Dentistry. Dr. Auzins patient care extends beyond his practice in Portland to those around the world. Through the Free to Smile Foundation, he has helped patients in developing countries by providing cleft lip and palate surgery. As part of an all volunteer team, he has treated children in China, Tibet, Guatemala, and Niger. Locally Dr. Auzins volunteers for Medical Teams International, providing oral surgery in their dental van for people in need. He and his team routinely participate in the Mission of Mercy (MOM) 2010, 2011, 2013, 2016, Dr. Auzins and his family enjoy spending time in the great outdoors. He enjoys downhill skiing, cycling, hiking, and is also an amateur jazz drummer.

Dr. Michael Reid - Orthodontist

Dr. Reid is an excellent orthodontist who truly listens and explains everything clearly. His friendly approach and attention to detail made my experience easy and comfortable. I highly recommend him.

Dr. Reid grew up in a family of six children, in Irvine, California. After serving a two-year mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Texas Fort Worth Mission, he attended Brigham Young University. Upon graduating from Brigham Young University with a degree in Nutritional Science, Dr. Reid attended the number one dental school in the country: the University of Michigan School of Dentistry. While at Michigan, he had the privilege to travel to Africa to provide dental services and oral health education to the underserved adolescent population of rural Kenya. Immediately following dental school, Dr. Reid moved to the deep south to complete a hospital-based residency program for an Advanced Education in General Dentistry (AEGD) in Jackson, Mississippi. Dr. Reid then moved to Georgia to complete his orthodontic specialty training at the Georgia School of Orthodontics. In his free time, you can find Dr. Reid spending plenty of time outdoors. He is an avid and competitive soccer player, frequent hiker, and aggressive snowboarder. He loves golfing, going to the beach, playing the guitar, and rooting for BYU and Michigan sports teams. Dr. Reid is married to his lovely wife, Lauren, and together they have five beautiful children—three girls and two boys.

Dr. Tony Rey - Periodontist

I’m usually pretty nervous about dental work, but Dr. Rey and his team were great. He’s very gentle and took the time to answer all my questions. The office is efficient and I didn’t have to wait long. If you’re looking for a periodontist who actually listens, he’s the one.

Dr. Rey started his journey to becoming a periodontist by working as a dental assistant for a periodontist prior to starting dental school. His desire to take on a dental assisting job early in his career gave him the opportunity to learn directly in a clinical setting. Observing how an experienced clinician treated patients with genuine care and attention helped shape Dr. Rey’s understanding of what exceptional care should look like. This experience helped shape the kind of clinician he wanted to become and also helped him find a love for the surgical side of dentistry. Now, years later after earning his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Utah School of Dentistry, completing a 36-month Advanced Dental Education Program in Periodontics at Loma Linda University School of Dentistry, and earning a Master of Science in Dentistry in Periodontics degree at Loma Linda University School of Dentistry, he provides periodontal care for patients through Platinum Dental Services. In addition to clinical care, he is currently pursuing a PhD in Educational Inquiry, Measurement, and Evaluation at Brigham Young University. With a dedication to lifelong learning, Dr. Rey seeks to improve dental education through educational research. He is a member of the American Academy of Periodontology, the American Dental Association, and the Western Society of Periodontics, and values the collaboration and continued growth that come from associating with other dental professionals. Most importantly, Dr. Rey is committed to building strong, trusting relationships with his patients. He believes excellent care begins with listening and strives to ensure each patient feels understood, supported, and confident in their path to oral health. Beyond clinical and academic work, Dr. Rey is honored and grateful to be a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
